A Writer's Prayer
If you would come Lord
And just steal away my show
I would be grateful
"Cause it's You I want to hear more
There is the spotlight
That is going to show on You
I hope to hear a word
Or interpretation that is true
Help me now I pray
Like I have never asked before
Let me write for others
Something that will open a door
For them and their family
Their friends and also their foes
Let me be a blessing please
To everyone we knows.

You Didn't Quit!
When things seem hard
Remember knowledge is there
Only you will see
The wisdom that is where
There once was pain
And a feeling of desperation
Now it is filled
With a full restoration
Of whatever you lost
During a debilitating test
They you will find
A wonderful, joyful rest.
Where you'll look back
And see that it all fit
And you'll be so glad
That you didn't quit!

Feeling Overwhelmed
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed
There's this and that and the other
I want to throw my hands in the air
And just shout "oh brother"!
Got soooo many irons
Now in my daily fire
And I am even in a state
That they call 'retired'
I have never
Written so much in my life
At least it doesn't feel
Like it is negative strife
It's all good
But still it seems so much
To stay organized
God I need Your Special Touch

When the loneliness grows too empty
And they turn to walk away
God will hold you tight!
When the heart feels too broken
And they turn to run away
God will lead you forward!
When the mountain seems too steep
And they turn to fall away
God will carry you upward!
When the dream drifts too scattered
And they turn to break away
God will remind you
"I am that I am"

My "Ex", My Friend
So Many Talks
We have had lately
So many subjects
Worked through so greatly
Day after day
We talk by the hour
Only You Lord
Could give us that power
To open our souls
And work through the issues
Even though I've needed
At times, one or two tissues
Forgiveness is flowing
From both of our sides
It's relieving burdens
And picking up our strides
We've found the mistakes
We each made along the way
We were so young
And we both went astray
But now we are friends
And that feels more than great
Thank You Dear Lord
That there is no more hate

He Sang Of The Lord
Today was such a joy
As my son played his guitar
The audience clapped
From near and from far.
He sang of the Lord
In the songs that he wrote
And just for this mom
He had one with a special note.
I was surprised
At how well he interacted
With all of them there
Obviously, they were truly impacted.
They bobbed their heads
Or sometimes tapped their feet
I was so proud
Because it was more than neat.
How can I tell him
He has grown up so well
Maybe with this poem
The understanding will yell.
